The making of a Footprint Custom Strap.

Designed by a photographer, for photographers.

Most photographers relish the day when they finally
pick up the shiny, state of the art camera they have
waited patiently for to arrive at their local dealer.
Whether it be the latest compact or a top end DSLR
the excitement is just as great.  The disappointment
usually comes when you finally unwrap the accessories.
I have a collection of straps in a drawer that frankly I
wouldn't attach to a cheap mobile phone let alone a
  £1000+ camera!

So, Footprint Custom Straps was born out of frustration
that a quality strap which could be customised to the
  individual was not freely available.

Three main factors govern the production of our straps
.....Quality of materials used, Durability and Longevity.
To this end we have sourced the best quality leathers
from both the UK and Italy.
One of the first processes is to remove the 'sharp'
edge from the leather. This makes the strap a lot
  more comfortable to the user.
We then colour the raw edge and burnish to finish.
Split ring(s) are then attached and the leather is
saddle stitched by hand using a strong waxed thread,
then bound using a coloured polyester waxed thread.

Be assured that whatever camera you are using, from
the smallest compact to the heaviest DSLR, Footprint
Custom Straps are up to the job.

We have six colours in our bridle leather range....
Black, Havana (Dark Brown), Australian Nut, Conker,
  Light Havana and Red.
There are currently three colours in our Italian Full Grain
leather.... Black Dakota, Papaya Dakota and Tan Dakota.
Our waxed polyester thread (trim) range now consists of
  24 colours.
I haven't done the math, but I think you will agree
that's a lot of choice by any standard.
You will see the dimensions of straps in our listings.
Please use these as a guide only.
If you require one shorter/longer than the description,
you only need msg me when ordering.
We cannot list every combination of colours for obvious
reasons, so please contact me if what you require is not
listed. I can be contacted via Ebay or by email direct

New additions to our range

We are pleased to announce a new addition to our range....the FLEX.

Based on our standard wrist strap but with the added        advantage of a 'Dyneema' link which
allows a little more flexibility between strap and camera.  Dyneema is an immensely strong cord and is used widely
in boating applications.  Strong enough to support any
camera from the smallest compact to a DSLR.

This strap is available in any of our current colour combinations on request.

My aim from the outset was to produce a top quality leather
strap for photographers both amateur and professional. I have sourced the best materials from suppliers within the UK in order to produce a product that should last many years and will enhance the look of your camera. My straps are immensely strong in construction and are made to support the smallest compact to the largest DSLR.

The question I get asked most..."Will it fit?"

Wrist straps are approx. 8 inches end to end
(not including any loops, swivels etc).
The opening for your hand is approx. 5.5 inches.
These measurements can of course be adjusted to suit
the individual

We currently use five colours of leather shown below.

The leather used for our straps is 4mm bridle butt and is
supplied by J & E Segwick. This is a top end product and very
sought after by manufacturers of leather goods worldwide.
It is used in equestrian applications and it's strength and
durability are second to none.

  Black/Yellow SR

  Conker/Army Green SR

   Australian Nut/Copper SR

  Havana/Sand SR

  Havana/Army Green Loop

The trim or binding used is a waxed polyester thread (1mm)
which comes in a variety of colours. This is both water and UV resistant and immensely strong. We currently use 23 colours shown below.
These are updated from time to time as new colours become available.

Grey......Many customers have asked us if we do a 'silver'
thread.  This is the nearest we are likely to get in a polyester
thread.

CAMERA FITTING
Five different fittings are available....

SPLIT RING.

                  SPLIT RING

LOOP (2 versions) Standard Dyneema and the
thinner version RX which is the same material as the binding.
Smaller compacts such as the Sony RX100 and similar won't accept the Dyneema as it's a little thicker.

                  STANDARD (DYNEEMA) LOOP

                   RX  (Thin) Loop

FLEX....Recently introduced and proving very popular is a
hybrid of the Split ring and Loop giving the user a little more
flexibility between camera and strap.

                  FLEX

SWIVEL.   Speaks for itself really. A ball bearing swivel with
welded rings for strength. Tested to 40lbs. I use these on my
Fuji X100 and a Nikon D300...love it!!

Combinations of all the above probably run into many
hundreds and would be impractical to list on EBAY.
If you have an idea of something you'd like please feel
free to contact me and I'll be happy to make one up for
you.
